From Time Warp to Time Well Spent: My Whimsy Health Journey Begins Again!
It’s been a while since I last popped up in the blogosphere, and oh, what a whirlwind it’s been! Picture this: I was in a time warp, not from any sci-fi flick, but from life - after a sad but inevitable end to a relationship, moving house including my dear elderly mum so basically 2 houses, and then why not add in some renovations.
My days were a blend of packing boxes, stacking boxes, dust, paint, chaos, and the occasional moment of deep, philosophical reflection about whether I could indeed live on chai tea and optimism alone. Spoiler alert: I could not.
So, here I am, emerging from this whirlwind of new houses with epic home improvements and motherhood, ready to take the reins of my health once more. But don’t worry—I’m still the same whimsy-loving, humor-imbued mum you’ve come to know and love. Just with a new mission: to reawaken my health journey with a sparkle in my eye and a skip in my step. I am back.
Time to Reinvigorate, but with a Twist
Let’s be honest, the past few years have been a bit of a roller coaster for all of us. Personally, I’ve gained some weight, noticed those laugh lines that are now a bit more prominent (thanks to countless nights of DIY projects and a paintbrush I now know personally), and felt like time was slipping through my fingers faster than I could say “healthy habit stacking.”
But here's the kicker—I’m not about to dive headfirst into a serious health overhaul and lose the joy of life in the process. I’m all about reinvigorating my health, but with a dash of humor and a sprinkle of fun. I believe that taking life seriously doesn’t mean we have to lose our zest for it.
The Art of Healthy Habit Stacking
So, how am I going to approach this? By embracing the art of healthy habit stacking! What’s that, you ask? It’s the magic of layering small, manageable health habits on top of each other until they become second nature. Think of it like adding extra toppings to your favorite pizza—only in this case, the toppings are good-for-you habits.
Here’s my game plan:
Morning Movements with a twist,
Instead of dragging myself out of bed for a workout I dread, I’m going to make mornings fun.
Whether it’s dancing around the kitchen in my fave ugg boots while my son makes his own breakfast given he is now off my hands at 17, or starting the day with a forest bathing session, even before I leave the house. I’m making movement a joyous part of my day.
Snack Attack Upgrade:
I’m swapping out those sugary snacks for delightful, nutritious treats. Think fresh fruit with a side of laughter as I try out new, quirky recipes with the fam.
Hydration Station: My water bottle will be my new best friend. I’m jazzing it up with lemon or grapefruit essential oil or other yummy citrus blessings to make drinking water feel like a luxury rather than a chore. Need to kick start my liver too.
Mindful Moments: I’m dedicating a few minutes each day to mindfulness. Not the kind where I sit in silence, but where I embrace the chaos of life with a grin. It’s about finding peace in the pandemonium. Bring in Shinrin Yoku essential oil blend please! Can you do this on the beach? Of course you can - just do it.
Mum Fun Fitness: Now my only child is all grown up and making his way to his own independence, why not make my old mum taxi time healthier? I’m planning outdoor adventures and exercise that comes with giggles and chia seeds? Yes, please!
Selfcare and living low tox: Oh my what a dream? I am going to explore the best skin & body care, get low tox green cleaning stuff till my heart bubbles over with so much joy that I might explode. Yes! Yes and Yes! I have been waiting for this day to come so bring it.
Aging Gracefully with a Grin
Aging is a part of life, and let’s face it, we all age whether we like it or not. But I’m choosing to embrace it with grace and a grin. I’m seeing it as an opportunity to become the best version of myself, with a few more laughs and a lot more joy along the way.
After all, health isn’t just about the numbers on a scale or the lines on our faces; it’s about how we feel, how we move, and how we live our lives. It’s about dancing through life, even when it’s offbeat, and finding happiness in the little things.
Let’s Do This!
So, here’s to new beginnings, renewed health, and keeping the whimsy alive. I’m ready to start this journey again, not with the pressure of perfection but with the intention of joy. Because, in the end, it’s not just about living longer—it’s about living better, with a laugh and a leap.
Thanks for joining me on this adventure. Let’s make health a delightful part of our lives, one quirky habit at a time!
Stay whimsical and well,
Carolyn Joy xo
