 The Origins of Shinrin-Yoku

Shinrin-Yoku originated in Japan in the 1980s as a preventative health practice, introduced to support rising levels of stress and lifestyle-related illness.
Rather than exercise or mindfulness techniques, Shinrin-Yoku focuses on gentle immersion in nature - engaging the senses, slowing the nervous system, and allowing the body to recalibrate naturally.

Research has since shown benefits including reduced stress hormones, improved immune function, and greater emotional regulation - making Shinrin-Yoku both ancient in wisdom and modern in relevance.
